Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Meet our Councillors

Rupert White - Chair

I am a neighbour keen to help the new school settle in to the local community.
I hope that the exceptional location on Putney Common will enable it to inspire the children to love and
cherish the natural world around them.

To contact the Academy Council Chair please address letters to Rupert White, c/o Oasis Academy Putney,

Katie Kajumba

I am passionate about Putney and committed to making a difference to the lives of the children in
the community.  I am a communications professional with a keen interest in fitness, travel and design.

Astrid Woloszczuk

After completing a MSci in Physics, I have worked in Management Consulting for over ten years focusing
on Financial Services and People & Organisation. I have also led several Education projects. I have worked
closely with the Sutton Trust and Education Endowment Foundation on projects benefiting the educational
opportunities for children from lower income families. I am passionate about education, particularly science,
maths and computing. I am thrilled to be able to help the new school wherever I can support, particularly
around Pupil Premium and STEM.

Annika Nicklinson

Having owned my own design business and shop for 15yrs my life has been full of challenges and adventures,
none more rewarding than having my daughter. It was shortly after her birth I re-focused my career towards
education. I’m currently studying for a degree in Education studies and based at Oasis Academy Putney as the
Artist in Residence. My daughter is one of the founding children of the school and it’s my privilege to serve
as an academy councillor.

Alina Vasile-Floroaie

I believe early years education should be about our children growing up happy and healthy. And I believe the
school should provide all conditions for them to flourish and develop into kind, brave, and assertive little people.
I decided to join the Academy Council because I believe that parents and teachers should work together to
make our school the place where our children dare to dream big.

If parents would like to talk about making our school great, just stop me outside the classroom or send me
an email to [email protected].

Karen Matthews

I am a local resident and Mum to two small children.  Now retired, I have had the privilege of spending
almost 30 years in education in Wales where I worked as Head Teacher, Her Majesty's Inspector of
Education (Wales) and a University lecturer.  I now work as a Magistrate in the local community.

Originally from Scotland, I moved south to Putney several years ago. I now practise as a lawyer in the
City of London (which, amongst other things, involves resolving disputes and dealing with a range of
conduct and governance issues). I know from family experience the impact that a well-run school
can have on children’s lives and opportunities and I’m therefore thrilled to have the chance to help the
new school wherever it needs support.
