Travelling to school

What is a School Travel Plan?

The School Travel Plan (STP) initiative was introduced in 2009 to encourage all schools to promote sustainable travel, in order to reduce congestion and pollution and increase healthier modes of travelling to school. The STP gives information on how people get to and from the school, identifies problems with safe and sustainable travel and sets objectives to resolve these issues.

Why Have a School Travel Plan?

Although not a mandatory policy, the Travel Champions of Oasis Academy Putney has agreed that a regular review of the STP is the most effective way of identifying issues with any aspect of school travel and provides information to all stakeholders in a single, publicly available document.

The main objectives on the 2022/23 School Travel Plan are:

  • Increase active travel to 55%
  • Increase park and stride to 5%

Bike Marking with the Police

The Metropolitan Police Service will be attending to our academy in the Spring 22/23 Term for a Bike Marking Event. The police regularly set up marking events to provide cycle security advice and offer security marking and registration onto the Bike Register's online database. Registering your bike helps police and retailers identify and verify the legitimate owner of bikes that have been stolen or are being resold.  If your bike is ever stolen and recovered by the police, it can be traced back to you.
