Eco Team get straight to work this Spring Term

Eco Team get straight to work this Spring Term

After the busyness of the new year was over, our Eco Team were keen to get back together for a meeting to carry on working on our Eco Targets (Waste, Energy, Marine) as we work towards renewing our Green Flag Eco-Schools Status. In our meeting we decided to appoint monitors to help lead these targets across the school:

Waste Monitors

KS1: Max, Anna and Bonnie May

KS2: Alex and Charlie

Energy Monitors

KS1: Benaiah

KS2: Kai

Marine Monitors

Rosie, Penny and Marta.

Our KS2 Energy Monitors got straight to work following the meeting as they interviewed our school Site Manager, Mick, to find out more about how our school's heating, lighting and insulation are monitored. Mick confirmed how he is helping to meet the target of setting thermostats to 18C. The site manager showed pupils the energy monitors and how to read the thermostats.  As part of their duty, the energy monitors will be taking daily readings of their classroom thermostats.

"After the interview, we even got to see behind the scenes as we were shown inside the Plant Rooms to look at the heating controls for the whole school.  I really enjoyed it and it was really exciting going into the room and being shown the controls and all the pipes, I learnt a lot about how the school is heated and how the water is insulated." - Jacob

We look forward to sharing more with our OA Putney community about how we are meeting our targets later this term.
