We’re excited to share that Oasis Academy Putney has been awarded the Green Schools Eco Flag with distinction for 2024! This fantastic achievement recognises our efforts to care for the environment and our community.
Our amazing pupils have been busy with activities like:
- Litter picks along the River Thames and Beverley Brook
- Collecting batteries for recycling
- Launching a clothes recycling bank at school with 'Kids Just Recycle'
- Taking part in the Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel, the UK’s biggest competition for walking, wheeling, scooting, and cycling to school
A huge shoutout to our Eco champions for their dedication to making our school better and for winning this award two years in a row!
Ms. Elliott, our principal, said, “I am incredibly proud to announce that our school has earned the Eco-Schools Green Flag award, an internationally recognised symbol of high environmental standards. Our wonderful pupils and dedicated staff deserve immense credit for their hard work, determination, and creativity. Their passion for protecting our planet is truly an inspiration to us all. Well done, everyone!”
This award is a big deal for our academy and sets a new goal for our environmental education and community involvement.
The Eco-Schools assessment team were really impressed, saying, “The improvements to your school environment with green transport, waste reduction, and recycling initiatives, and especially your community work with litter picks and recycling banks (we loved those), all nicely stand out! Congratulations to everyone for the great work you have managed to do, earning your Green Flag with Distinction in style. You should all be very proud of your work and the application you have submitted!”
