At Oasis Putney we love getting involved with Eco Projects and initiatives in our local community. Last Friday Year 2 were invited to be part of the opening ceremony of the Tideway super sewer project at Barn Elms. After many years of construction, the land has been restored, complete with a new public artwork, and our favourite new addition – one of London’s biggest ‘bug hotels’!
We have made our own bug hotels at school to increase biodiversity on our school grounds, so we really enjoyed listening to some experts talk about this giant bug hotel including someone from the London Wetlands and also the artist who designed the artwork on the side of the bug hotel.
Some of us were even lucky enough to have our photo taken with the mayor!
Ali – "I had my photo taken with the mayor and I liked the bug hotel because it is so big and so many bugs can come live in it."
Max – "I really liked being interviewed and talking about what I liked about the bug hotel."
