Secretary of State approves closure of Oasis Academy Putney 

Following the recent listening exercise, the Secretary of State for Education has now formally approved the closure of Oasis Academy Putney. The Academy will permanently close on 31 August 2026. 

As previously communicated, this decision has been driven by the sustained decline in the number of children and families living in the local area, which has resulted in a significant and long-term reduction in pupil numbers. After careful consideration and exploration of all available options, closure has been approved as the only viable course of action. 

We recognise that this news will be disappointing for many members of our school community. We would like to thank parents and carers for the support, understanding and patience they have shown throughout this process. We are also incredibly grateful to the academy's staff and leadership team, whose dedication, professionalism and commitment to children has remained unwavering during a period of significant uncertainty. 

Our focus now is on working closely with families, the local authority and neighbouring schools to ensure that every child is supported into their next setting. We are committed to doing everything we can to make the transition as smooth as possible and to provide families with the information and support they need. 

As we look ahead, we want to wish every child at Oasis Academy Putney the very best for the next stage of their education. While their journeys will continue in different schools, we hope they will carry with them the knowledge, values, friendships and experiences they have gained during their time with us. We hope they approach the future with curiosity, confidence and ambition, and we look forward to seeing all that they go on to achieve. They will always remain an important part of Oasis and will always be part of the Oasis family. We wish them every success, happiness and fulfilment in the years ahead.
